Why can you make an offer on a room?
Hotels operate at an occupancy rate of less than 100%. This
means that rooms sometimes stand unfilled, so hotels are sometimes
willing to drop the rate rather than have empty rooms. So
we bring to you the ability to make an offer on a room, essentially
bid for rooms, however should you choose to make an offer,
and that offer is accepted, you are obligated to make the
booking with the hotel. Hotels are not obligated to negotiate
with you so if your offer is not accepted then you should
not continue to try to negotiate with them.
Obligation: By proceeding with this feature and making
an offer on a room, your offer will become a booking if the
hotel accepts your offer.
Response time: You will receive a response to your
offer within 12 hours of submitting it. In most cases, the
response will be within 1 hour, however during busy times
it may take up to 12 hours. If you don't receive a response
within 12 hours, your offer will expire and you will need
to re-submit it. If you submit your offer after 7pm at night,
it will quite often go unanswered as most Hotels do not have
overnight reservation staff working. Please submit your offer
during business hours.
Counter-Offer: The hotel can counter your offer, however
the counter-offer is final. You cannot negotiate the counter-offer.
If the hotel counters your offer, you get 24 hours to decide
whether to accept the counter-offer. The offer will expire
after 24 hours. If you are not happy with the counter offer,
please do not submit another offer to the same Hotel as they
are likely to ignore it.
Payment: Your credit card details are required at
the time of making an offer to secure your booking in the
case that your offer is accepted by the hotel. If the offer
is accepted, your credit card will be charged a 10% deposit
plus a $2.95 booking fee. The balance will be payable directly
to the hotel, and they may charge your credit card the balance
before you arrive, but if they don't then you will need to
pay them upon arrival.
Options to remove: This gives you the ability to remove
certain inclusions that you may not need. The removal of these
inclusions can sometimes make the room rate cheaper. The options
only apply if the the room is advertised as including them:
- Service (service includes bed-making, rubbish removal, fresh
towels etc.)
- Breakfast (some hotels include breakfast in the room rate)
- Parking (some hotels provide parking free of charge as a
courtesy to the guest)
These inclusions do not always apply to every hotel, however
the option is there for you to remove them if they do.
N.B Not all hotels will agree to the removal of these options.
